Liam Neeson revealed that he’s no longer looking for a romantic partner, explaining that as a 72-year-old he’s “past all that.”
Liam Neeson will never be taken again.
The 72-year-old shared that he’s at a stage in his life where he’s no longer seeking out romantic partners.
In fact, when asked if he’s dating anyone, Liam told People in an interview published Oct. 23, “No, in a word. I’m past all that.”
Of course, the Love Actually star hasn’t always turned away from love. After all, he shares two sons—Micheál Neeson, 29, and Daniel Neeson, 28—with his late wife Natasha Richardson, who he was married to for 15 years before her death in 2009 at age 45.
And while Liam—who dated public relations executive Freya St. Johnston for two years before their split in 2012—has dipped back into the dating pool since the Parent Trap actress’ passing, he admitted that grieving her sudden loss was initially a huge adjustment for him.
“It was a horrible thing to happen,” Liam said, explaining that he coped with the tragedy by pouring himself into his acting due to his “Irish working-class need to just take any job that was going.”
And work wasn’t his only focus at the time. The Taken actor insisted that his main priority was his kids and “making sure they were OK.” Luckily, he had a strong support system in Natasha’s mother Vanessa Redgrave and her sister Joely Richardson.
“Everybody just pulled together. Vanessa and Joely were extraordinary,” Liam recalled. “We were fortunate in lots of ways.”
Still, the actor has said that his grief over Natasha, who died from a brain hemorrhage following a skiing accident she had while on vacation in Quebec, will still come to him “like a wave.”
“You just get this profound feeling of instability,” Liam explained in a 2014 interview on 60 Minutes. “The Earth isn’t stable anymore and then it passes and it becomes more infrequent, but I still get it sometimes.”
