Hours before sharing her pregnancy news, the 34-year-old star debuted an effortlessly chic haircut

Jennifer Lawrence knows that a hair change is the best way to ring in a new life event.

Hours before sharing the news that she’s expecting her second child with husband Cooke Maroney, the actress, 34, was spotted with freshly chopped bangs.

The star stepped out for a date night with Maroney, 40, wearing a simple white tee and black maxi skirt with a bright red sweater tied around her shoulders. She also wore slip-on flats and a pendant necklace.

The most noteworthy element of the look, however, was Lawrence’s effortlessly chic bangs. Her golden locks fell just below her shoulders with long layers and face-framing pieces.

The actress has worn bangs before but it’s been a while. In recent years, she’s opted for long hair with a middle part, sometimes mixing things up with a glamorous red carpet style or side-part.

The following day, Sunday, Oct. 20, the Oscar winner revealed her pregnancy via a Vogue Instagram post and article.

“Congratulations are in order for Jennifer Lawrence! The Oscar-winning actor will be welcoming her second child with art gallerist husband Cooke Maroney,” the magazine wrote in the caption of the post, adding that Lawrence’s reps had confirmed the news to the outlet.

Lawrence and Maroney tied the knot in October 2019 and welcomed their first child, on Cy in February 2022.

On Monday, Oct. 21, a source exclusively told PEOPLE that the Hunger Games actress is “thrilled to be pregnant again.”

“She loves being a mom,” the insider said. “She’s thrilled to be pregnant again. It feels like the perfect timing to her. Her son will 3 when the new baby arrives.”

The source shared that Lawrence and Maroney are in a great place in their relationship.

“She’s very happy with Cooke,” they continued. “They are great together. He’s super chill and it rubs off on her.”
